(page 9) That afternoon we took a short trip over to Lake Bohinj to see the views from the Vogel Ski Center.

We took the cable car to the top of Vogel which is part of the Triglav National Park.

A map of the ski runs, and what the lifts look like in the summer!

The gorgeous Julian Alps.

Looking down on the villages around Lake Bohinj.

Taking the cable car back down.

On the road back to Bled, we stopped to take some pictures of their traditional hay storage systems. It's an important part of the Slovenian culture and is slowly being fazed out by more modern techniques.

We decided, or rather, I coerced Jason into taking a stroll around Lake Bled. About a 6 km walk.

Jason talking to a swan. Yep, swans are evil in Slovenia too. Our tour guide warned us of the dangers of interacting with them. On the right, rowing competitions are held in Lake Bled.

Slovenian license plates are designated with "SLO", which is also an acronym for San Luis Obispo, Jason's home town in CA.

We don't know what this building is, but the pretty yellow flowers spell "BLED"!

That night we found a pretty villa and restaurant on the lake and decided to have our dinner there. Delicious food and always such reasonable prices!!

After dinner we went to this little cafe that was known for it's creme desserts. Jason, who is a dessert FANATIC, proclaimed this "possibly the best dessert EVER!" It's a thick layer of custard topped by a thick layer of fresh whipped creme.

A picture of Castle Bled in the evening.

Back at the hotel we decided to have a drink before bed. Here I am with a popular Croatian dessert wine, Prosek.
