Croatia, Slovenia & Montenegro
May 10, 2003 - May 23, 2005

(page 11) The last day of our trip was spent in the capital of Croatia - Zagreb. Not as charming and picturesque as some of the other cities, but definitely full of history and culture.

The opera house.

I think this is the Virgin Mary.

Inside a cathedral.

The door to the confessional.

A historic building.

Walking through the city we encountered about four wedding ceremonies (here are two of them). We found them to be a bit more interesting than what our guide was saying, that's why we don't really know the names of the buildings.

Jason standing beside some miniature horses.

An important historic figure.

That's about it! We really had a great time on this trip. When we decided to go to Croatia & Slovenia, we really had no idea where it was and what it was all about. We just thought it'd be a fun adventure. What we found just amazed us. So beautiful, so much fascinating history and culture. Wonderful people. Accomodations were just fine and the prices for hotels were comparable to the states. A 3-star might go for around $80-$120, and a 4-5 star for >$200. The food and shopping though, were definitely more reasonable than in the states. This has always been a popular European destination, but only recently has tourism from the US started picking up. Go now before it becomes as crowded and expensive as Western Europe!!
