Rincon de la Vieja National Park: Dec 29

A geothermal national park, i.e., a very mini Yellowstone, with lots of hiking, streams and waterfalls.

At the start of our 2.5 mile hike.

The pool Jason is standing by (left) is 195 degrees Fahrenheit.

Bubbling sulfur pool (left); a mini stream (right).

After the 2.5 mile hike, the kids were exhausted and hot. While the parents embarked on a second, 4-hour hike to the beautiful waterfall/lagoon on the left (picture with dad swimming); the kids embarked on a mini 15 minute hike to a stream (Jason, Ivan and Michelle representing our lazy asses on the right).

Jason and I (left); after swimming, we walked back toward the starting point of the park (right).

We had a lot of time to kill while waiting for our parents to finish their hike. So we talked to these horses (Michelle on left, Jason on right) and fed one of them an apple core; took pictures of some wild monkeys; and played Russian Poker.
