Gal's Trip
August 24-27, 2006

Satuday: we started with breakfast. We had planned on The Soda Shoppe at The Beverly Hills Hotel - an LA instition, right? You'd think with the hotel being such a legend, the service would match, but man were we disappointed. We valeted the car and went down to the tiny, dank soda bar. The workers were rude and the service was extremely slow; customers at the bar were waiting for their bill and rolling their eyes, so after seeing this we decided to leave. We went back to valet which was empty; the guys recognized us and saw we were only there for 5 minutes, but still wanted to charge us $10! For 5 minutes? We argued and they went down to $5. Really ridiculous.

Instead, we went to the Sunset Strip and found a fabulous place for breakfast called Le Clafoutis. Afterwards, spa treatments at Ole Henriksen. Then afternoon tea at the Hotel Bel Air - beautiful place, great service. In the evening, we decided we needed to do some shopping so it was off to Third Street Promenade.

In front of The Beverly Hills Hotel - expecting a great experience for breakfast, but we were sorely disappointed

Instead, we found a gem of a place called Le Clafoutis on Sunset Blvd

Ready for our massages!

Spa treatments done, now we're getting ready for afternoon tea at Hotel Bel Air!

Tea was delicious, but the most memorable part of the trip was when Uyen suggested we go around and all tell each other what we appreciate most about the person. We thought it'd be light-hearted, but it turned out to be a major tearfest. It was so wonderful and touching, but I think we freaked out the waiters with all our laughing and crying.

After tea and crying, we went to the restroom to freshen up. The lighting there was so warm and beautiful we decided it'd be fun to take more pictures!

Next, we explored the hotel's lush gardens and Uyen wanted a picture with each of us

Last stop, shopping! Smita and I both loved this jacket, but they didn't have it in our sizes. :(

On Sunday, we ended our weekend with a trip to The Farmer's Market at The Grove.
It was just a fabulous weekend.
